Lake Mary Prep Students Turn Ideas into Action with New “Build: Code & Create” Elective

Lake Mary Preparatory School is excited to announce the successful completion of the first major project in its new elective, Build: Code & Create. This innovative course is designed to move ideas from concept to reality, providing students with opportunities to design, build, and create projects that make a tangible impact on campus.

The inaugural project focused on the construction of large, raised garden beds for the Roots to Recipes class. Students applied practical skills by measuring, cutting, drilling, and assembling each piece with care, transforming designs into durable, functional planters. These garden beds are now installed in the LMP garden and will be used by Roots to Recipes students as they grow, experiment, and cook with fresh ingredients.

This milestone went beyond construction. Students practiced teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and communication throughout the process, demonstrating how classroom learning can translate into real-world achievement. The collaboration between Build: Code & Create and Roots to Recipes highlights the school’s commitment to experiential education that bridges disciplines and enriches the campus community.

Build: Code & Create is one of several new middle and high school electives launched at Lake Mary Prep this year. These innovative offerings are designed to broaden student opportunities, encourage exploration, and connect academic learning with real-world application.

The school looks forward to continuing to expand its elective options in the coming years, providing even more exciting opportunities for students to discover their passions and bring ideas to life.
